Pet walk lights up

The 5th annual West Oahu Pet Walk will be held in the evening hours this year. With the summer heat creeping up already, it’s a welcome shift. Pups will bear light-up LED collars at the walk June 2 at Ewa Puuloa District Park. The event usually brings out 700 two-legged participants and 350 pets to walk in the evening event this year. Register for $50 per family of four by June 1 at poidogsandpopoki.org. Water play and canine games run 5 to 7 p.m. with the walk taking place from 7 to 8 p.m. Human snacks along the route will be provided by California Pizza Kitchen, Buffalo Wild Wings and Applebees, among others. Can’t make it? Look for the Central Oahu Pet Walk Aug. 4 at Mililani Town Center.

The program is geared toward those in first grade or younger. Call 733-8488 for details.
