There will be interactive displays and educational activities throughout the mall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28.

Keiki Day Passports will be distributed in Center Court. If kids stop by six activity booths and get stamped at each one, they can return the passport for a free Whole Foods Market reusable tote, a “I am a Steward of The Ocean” sticker badge and be entered to win a one-night stay at The Kahala Hotel & Resort with breakfast buffet for two. Among the activities will be gyotaku printing (Bring your own plain t-shirts or print on paper), honu puppet making, ocean creature costume dress up, glitter tattoos and balloon twisting. Visit KahalaMallCenter.com for details.

Mauna Kea Mist a photo-friendly treat

We finally tried the Mauna Kea Mist ($5.95) from Da Snack Shack at Pearlridge Center. The airy balls don’t taste like much but it sure is fun to eat. They are barely sweet but with a choice of dipping sauce that isn’t tasty enough to justify its mist-blocking properties. Also available at the newly opened Japan Village Walk kiosk.
