Summertime volunteerism

RevoluSun and Surfrider Foundation invite you to help clean up the beach 10 a.m. to noon July 28 at Makapuu Beach. It’s a great way to teach kids about giving back and taking care of the aina. (According to the groups, marine debris kills more than 100,000 mammals and one million birds every year.) And at the end of the clean up, you can jump in the water. The first 100 volunteers get a free T-shirt. Sign-in starts at 9:30 a.m.

Check you car seats

Kaiser Permanente is hosting a free car seat check event with experts who can assess if your seat is installed properly. Head over to the Enterprise Truck Rental Site, 3239 Ualena St., 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 28 to get yours checked. Snacks will be served.
